1). Krimschild, dated 22/12/1942. Facsimile signature of Generalfeldmarschal Erich von Manstein.
The Krankentransport Abteilungen served for the appropriate distribution and repatriation of patients. They were in each case in the position to establish up to six patient collecting points (Krankensammelstellen) where "a sifting" of the patients took place. It was specified whether the patients should be moved on the military hospitals of the army and/or army group or into the homeland. In addition shipping the patients in individual means of transport (course, airplane, ship) and the organization and the equipment of additional means of transport was incumbent on the Krankentransport Abteilungen, e.g. from provisional wounding courses. Further they had to make the distribution of the patients due to their bed plan on the war military hospitals of the army and army group.

From there the Flotilla operated at the island of Saaremaa, near Sõrve, Gulf of Riga & Gulf of Finland, later its base moved to Gotenhafen. At the turn of the year 1944/1945 it was transferred to Swinemünde then Den Helder. From there it was employed in mine & torpedo duties in the English Channel from the Humber & Thames Deltas. | Heldengedenktag Postcard. On February 27th, 1934, the National Socialists introduced national holiday legislation to create Heldengedentag (Day of Commemoration of Heroes), cementing the observance. In the process, they completely changed the character of the holiday: the emphasis shifted to hero worship rather than remembering all the dead. Joseph Goebbels as Propaganda Minister issued guidelines on content and implementation, instructing that flags no longer be flown at half-mast. The last Heldengedenktag was celebrated in 1945.

Entitled to:-
Medaille "Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42" (Ostmedaille).
Hans was serving with Fallschirm-Flak-Regiment Hermann Göring .12 Battrie in Russia. On 03/03/1945 Hans was wounded by hand grenade and subsequently died in hospital on 10/03/1945.
The massive Soviet Vistula-Oder Offensive trapped the Hermann Göring Panzerkorps in the Heiligenbeil Pocket along with the rest of the 4.Armee. In February, the Heer's élite Panzergrenadier-Division Großdeutschland was attached to the corps.
Despite several breakout attempts, the Panzerkorps had to be evacuated by sea to Swinemünde in Pomerania. Upon landing, it was thrown back into combat, defending the Oder-Neisse line against Soviet attacks through mid-March. To bolster the Korps' strength, the elite Panzergrenadier-Division Brandenburg was attached to the unit.
On 03/03/1945 when Hans was engaged in this defensive action, he was wounded by hand grenade and subsequently died in hospital on 10/03/1945.

Wilhelm spent most of his active service fighting on the Eastern Front. Interesting point that he has not been awarded any decoration. The soldbuch has a fantastic photo of Wilhelm attached where the silver tress on his shoulder boards clearly indicate his potential officer status.

Johann saw active service in Poland in 1939, France in 1940 and the Central Eastern Front 1941/42. Johann was wounded twice – the first time being on 05/02/1942 near Akatova to the east of Gshatsk and the second time on 03/09/1942 near Upolosy also to the east of Gshatsk whilst his Battalion was detached and under the command of 461st Infanterie-Regiment in the same Division. This latter wounding was sufficiently serious to ensure he never saw active service again in WW II. On his recovery he was posted Gen.Komp.Grenadier-Ersatz-Bataillon 7 and training and replacement unit , until the end of the war which he survived.
There has been much written about Infanterie-Regiment 7, good references can be found both on the internet and in books.
