He served with SS Pz.Rgt. 5 "Wiking" and lastly Regiment "Holzer", unforunately being killed 24/04/1945.
The Soldbuch and contents came from a family member, having been found on his body in 1951.
Most of the contents have been glued to card to preserve the condition. The Soldbuch is complete but has suffered heavy damage some of the entries are still legible. The items have been marked with a Red Cross number written in red pencil. The group come in its Red Cross envelope, this is charcoal lined to help stop the deterioration of the paper.
Be under no illusion this group is in poor condition as you would expect considering the circumstance which the group was found, but quite remarkable to have survived.

Konrad severed with Pionier-Bataillon 212 part of the 212 in Infanterie-Division which spent all of 1939 and 1940 involved rear operation throughout the campaigns in the west. He was then transferred to Pionier-Bataillon 217 part of the 217 Infanterie-Division which was active on the eastern front at Riga, Reval, baltische Inseln and Oranienbaum. He was then hospitalized with Pleurisy. After his recovery he then joined Pionier-Landungs-Lehr , shortly after this he was transferred to 1./Pionier Lehr Bataillon (sF) active in Denmark. The Bataillon was equipped with 10 Fähren (10 ferries) and 12 L-Booten(12 Landing boats). On the 12/12/1944 Konrad was discharged from the Army.
The Wehrpass is in good condition with no loose pages.

Max servered from 1940 to summer 1943 with Transport units based in France. He was hospitalized with Chronic pneumonia for the last 3 months of 1943, after this he joined Grenadeir Ersatz und Ausbildung Bataillon 352. In early 1944 he was transferred to Regimentsgruppe 163 part of the Divisongruppe 52. He was then transferred to Infanterie-Regiment 321. This unit suffered heavy losses during the battle at Witebsk the unit was then disbanded and the remainder became Regimentsgruppe 332 part of the Divisionsgruppe 197. In late 1944 this unit was renamed Grenadier-Regiment 279 part of the 95 Infanterie-Division which was active at Tauroggen, Königsberg, Memel, Samland and Pillau,the division surrendered to Russian troops in Feb 1945 at Hela.
The group is in good condition but the pages are loose from the cover of the Soldbuch.

4./Frontfleigersammelgruppe.
An entry in his Soldbuch indicates he joined military service 01/04/1933. From the documents in the group he was serving with Fliegergruppe Neubrandenburg in March 1936. Three months later with Fliegergruppe Schwäbisch-Hall. June 1940 on completion of his pilot training with Flieger Ausbildung Regiment 14 in Klagenfurt. October 1940 with Aufklärungs Fliegerschule in Brieg.
The next units are taken from his Soldbuch and show Sanitäts Flugbereitschaft 11 from November 1944 operating in Russia. This was a duty ambulance flight evacuating casualties in Ju 52. These units carried out flights generally in the rear war zone, evacuation flights would not normally count as Feind or Frontflüge to qualify for flying clasps!
The photo appears to have been taken from his first Soldbuch and is stamped Flugbereitschaft Luftflotten Kommando 4 operating in the east. His dog tag number 71000 confirms his unit as Flugbereitschaft Luftflotten Kommando 4.
The group is in good condition with only minor wear to the Führerschein.

Konrad servered with 3.(Rdf.)Kp Pionier-Bataillon 97 part of the 97 leichte Infanterie-Division active in the east at Uman, Kiew, Artemowsk, Donez and Isjum. The Division was later renamed in 1942 to 97. Jäger-Division still active in the east at. Rostow, Armawir, Maikop, Kaukasus, Kuban and Krim. In 1943 Konrad was not the luckiest of sappers with a wealth of wounds and hospitalizations 02/1943 frostbite, 03/1943 2nd grade frostbite, 7/1943 hand grenade wounds, 07/1943 hand grenade and shell wounds, again 07 and 08 1943 bullet wounds. In 1944 he was hospitalized 4 time with minor illnesses and in 03/1945 hand grenade wounds.
The Soldbuch has a brown paper outer cover; the book has no loose pages but has wear to the edges of the pages.
